Whole House Air Purifiers

April 23rd, 2010 No comments

In our age, it has become very important to incorporate whole house air purifiers within the interior design of the house. This will keep us safe against the diseases and infections caused by air borne pollutants.

Air purifiers are available in different sizes and colors ; they also use different technologies to purify the air we breathe.

People have been found to prefer buying individual air purifiers for individual rooms. The reason could be that so many people live in compact flats. However, the whole house air purifier is still a good option if you have many rooms.

There are a few things that you need to consider before purchasing a whole house air purifier :

Consider your needs
First you need to decide whether you need a whole house air purifying system or just individual room air purifiers. The whole house model is a good option if you are looking for forced air heating or cooling. Otherwise, the only choice that remains is the room model. A good air purifier should operate without producing much noise ; it should also be economical with regard to power consumption.

Check the quality
Before you rush into buying one air purifier unit or another, you need to consider how efficient it is. The product you wish to purchase should be certified by the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers. This association examines the system to see if it meets the standard room size with the clean-air delivery rate (CADR) which can measure the cleaning speed. CADR which is higher than 350 is said to be excellent whereas CADR which is less than 100 is considered poor.

Luckily, most whole house air purifiers show minimum efficiency reporting value (MERV). Based on the test, an air cleaning system with a MERV between 11 and 13 is considered to be excellent.
